Canadians can travel to 98 countries right now (as of July 2021). However, travel restrictions for Canadian tourists depend on the destination and vary quite widely.
Read on to learn about some of the destinations welcoming Canadians that you can consider visiting right now, as well as the requirements and restrictions in each of those countries.
MEXICO & THE CARIBBEAN
Antigua
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 7 days prior to boarding.
- Travelers must sign a quarantine form, committing to remain on the resort’s property except for certified tours and restaurants.
- Curfew currently in effect from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am daily.
Bahamas
Requirements
- All travelers require a Bahamas Travel Health Visa and the mandatory COVID-19 health insurance.
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 5 days prior to arrival.
- Non-vaccinated travelers staying longer than 4 nights will be required to take a rapid Antigen test on day 5 of their stay.
- Curfew currently in effect from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am daily on certain islands.
Barbados
Requirements
- Open to fully-vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 3 days prior to travel.
- Fully vaccinated travelers must quarantine on the resort’s property until receiving a negative result (1-2 days).
- Curfew currently in effect from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am from Thursday night to Monday morning.
- Also open to non-vaccinated travelers, with stricter restrictions and a 5-day quarantine.
Cuba
Requirements
- Canadians must complete a “Sanitary Statement for Travelers” and purchase COVID-19 travel insurance.
- In addition, Canadian travelers must undergo another PCR test upon arrival in Cuba and another one after 5 days of quarantine.
- If this last test is negative, they can end the isolation period.
Dominican Republic
Requirements
- The Dominican Republic is a completely open country for Canadian residents.
- Canadians must submit an ETicket form indicating that they haven’t had any COVID-19 symptoms in the last 72 hours.
- Canadians may also be randomly tested upon arrival, but if they get a negative result, they don’t need to quarantine.
Grenada
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination, a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travel (travelers over the age of 5), and travel authorization (travelers must complete a travel authorization form via Grenada’s COVID-19 government website.)
- Fully vaccinated travelers will take a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival and quarantine on the resort’s property until receiving a negative result (48 hours).
- Also open to non-vaccinated travelers with stricter restrictions and a 7-day quarantine.
Mexico
Requirements
- Open to all travelers with no testing requirements.
- All Canadians need to do is complete a risk-factor questionnaire.
St. Lucia
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 5 days prior to arrival (travelers aged 5 and over).
Turks & Caicos
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 5 days prior to arrival and pre-authorization via the TCI Assured portal. TCI Assured is Turks & Caicos Island’s portal where all international travelers (both visitors and residents) will be required to obtain certification before traveling to the Turks and Caicos.
- Curfew currently in effect 11:00pm to 5:00am daily (businesses from 10:00pm).
Jamacia
Requirements
- All travelers must have a negative PCR or Antigen test result that was obtained within 3 days of travel.
- Additionally, Canadians must complete a Travel Authorization document to be able to board their flights.
- Canadians should also consider staying in accommodation that is located within the “Resilient Corridors”. Otherwise, they will have to quarantine for 14 days.
ASIA & THE PACIFIC
French Polynesia (Tahiti)
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination, and travelers with proven immunity.
- Requires a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure or an Antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to departure, and an ETIS receipt.
- Travelers will take an Antigen test upon arrival.
- Also open to non-vaccinated travelers with stricter restrictions and a 10-day quarantine.
Maldives
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours prior to scheduled flight departure and must submit a Traveler Health Declaration.
Hawaii (USA)
Requirements
- Travelers must either undergo a 10-day quarantine or avoid quarantine by presenting a negative test from a trusted partner.
LATIN AMERICA
Bolivia
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 7 days prior to arrival.
Brazil
Requirements
- Open to travelers arriving by air only.
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding, and a Health Declaration form.
Colombia
Requirements
- All travelers must complete a Check-Mig document.
Costa Rica
Requirements
- All travelers require proof of medical insurance and a completed online Health Pass Form submitted within 72 hours prior to travel.
Ecuador
Requirements
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test or Antigen test taken within 3 days prior to the flight departure.
- For all travelers, Antigen rapid tests can be performed on a random basis upon arrival in Quito or Guayaquil.
- The Galápagos Islands are also open with the same requirements.
Guatemala
Requirements
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test or Antigen test taken within 72 hours prior to the flight departure.
- Testing is available at Guatemala City Airport upon arrival.
Panama
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative Covid-19 PCR test or Antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to the flight departure.
- Testing is available at Panama City Airport upon arrival.
- Travelers arriving from South America, the UK, South Africa, and India into Panama City must quarantine in a designated hotel for 3 days, after which the traveler must test negative to continue with their travels.
Peru
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to the flight departure.
EUROPE
Albania
Requirements
- Open to all travelers with no testing requirements.
Croatia
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination, and travelers with proven immunity.
- Requires a negative rapid Antigen test, or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival.
- Travelers with an Antigen test result staying for more than 10 days will repeat the test once during their stay.
- No restrictions for children under 7.
Georgia
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination.
- Also open to non-vaccinated US citizens/residents with a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
- Non-vaccinated travelers will take a COVID-19 PCR test on day 3 of their stay.
- Curfew currently in effect from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am daily.
Greece
Requirements
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, or a negative Antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to arrival.
- All travelers must complete an online Passenger Locator Form within 24 hours prior to arrival.
Iceland
Requirements
- Open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination, and travelers with proven immunity.
- Non-vaccinated children born in the year 2005 or later do not have to quarantine if traveling with parents that are vaccinated (or have proven immunity).
- All travelers must pre-register, will take a COVID-19 test upon arrival, and must quarantine until receiving a negative result (usually within the day).
Montenegro
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
- Curfew currently in effect from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am daily.
Spain
Requirements
- Open to American travelers without restrictions.
- Fully vaccinated Canadian travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated Canadian travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival, or proof of recovery from COVID-19.
- All travelers must complete the Spain Health Control form.
Turkey
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to flight (travelers over the age of 6), and an Entrance Form completed prior to boarding.
Austria
Requirements
- Canadian travelers who are fully vaccinated don’t need to quarantine but must provide proof of vaccination.
- The last vaccination for full immunity must have occurred at least 14 days before entering Austria.
- Canadian Travelers who are not vaccinated need to register digitally in advance to obtain a pre-travel clearance to show at the Austrian border, either digitally or as a hard copy
- Need to quarantine for 10 days once they have arrived in Austria (If a test is taking after five days, and it shows a negative result, they can end the quarantine early)
- Need to show a negative test result or proof of a past infection upon entry to Austria
Ukraine
Restrictions
- Ukraine is open to Canadian tourists without restrictions.
- If Canada is considered a low-risk or “green” country on this list, Canadians do not need to take a PCR test or quarantine to visit Ukraine
- But they do need to purchase COVID-19 travel insurance from a company that is registered in Ukraine.
AFRICA & MIDDLE EAST
United Arab Emirates
Requirements
- Dubai arrivals only are recommended.
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours prior to flight departure, proof of medical insurance, a completed health declaration form, and must take a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival, self-isolating until receiving the results.
- Children under the age of 12 and those with disabilities may be exempt.
- Entry suspended for travelers who have been in or transited through South Africa 14 days prior.
Egypt
Requirements
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination with a QR code.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours prior to departure of the final flight into Egypt.
- All travelers require proof of health insurance.
Ghana
Requirements
- All travelers arriving by air require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure.
- Upon arrival, travelers over the age of 5 must take a COVID-19 PCR test (results in 30 minutes). All land and sea borders remain closed.
Jordan
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure (travelers over the age of 5), health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment for the entire trip, proof of residence for the 14 days prior to travel, and must complete an online declaration.
- A second test upon arrival is required for non-vaccinated travelers. Curfew currently in effect from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am daily.
Kenya
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours prior to travel and a completed Travelers Health Surveillance Form.
- Curfew currently in effect from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am daily.
Morocco
Requirements
- Fully vaccinated travelers require proof of vaccination.
- Non-vaccinated travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken 48 hours prior to arrival.
- Travel suspended from some transit destinations.
- Curfew currently in effect from 11:00 pm to 4:30 am daily.
Mozambique
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding, a health screening on arrival, and must complete a health questionnaire.
- Curfew currently in effect from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am daily in the greater Maputo area.
Namibia
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 7 days prior to flight check-in, a health screening on arrival, and must complete a short health questionnaire.
Seychelles
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to flight departure, health insurance covering COVID-19, and an approved Health Travel Authorization.
- Not open to arrivals from South Africa.
Tanzania
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival and a completed Health Surveillance Form.
- Travelers arriving from countries with a high number of COVID-19 cases will be required to take a rapid Antigen Test upon arrival.
Uganda
Requirements
- Only fully vaccinated travelers are recommended to visit.
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding the final flight to Uganda.
- All travelers will also take a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival and self-isolate until receiving the result (typically under 12 hours).
- For departing Uganda, all travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within the last 72 hours within the country.
- Curfew currently in effect from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am daily.
Zambia
Requirements
- All travelers require a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, a health screening on arrival, and must complete a health questionnaire.
- Travelers coming from South Africa are required to do a 14-day quarantine upon arrival unless fully vaccinated.
Zimbabwe
Requirements
- All travelers arriving by air require a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to departure, a health screening on arrival, and must complete a health questionnaire.
- Curfew currently in effect from 10:00 pm to 5:30 am daily.
- All land borders remain closed.
